Valerie Fleming is currently the Program Manager for Bobsled and Skeleton at the Utah Olympic Park, charged with developing future US Olympic athletes. Born in the San Francisco Bay area in California, she has been a resident of Park City for the past 15 years. After competing as a track and field athlete at UC Santa Barbara, she went on to earn her master’s degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at St. Mary’s College (CA) and became credentialed as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

Fleming began bobsled in 2003 and just three years later won a Silver Medal at the Olympic Games in Torino, Italy with driver Shauna Rohbock. Over her 8 seasons with USA Bobsled, Fleming won 22 career World Cup medals and 3 World Championships medals. In Fleming’s final season, Rohbock and Fleming finished 3rd overall in the 2010-2011 World Cup standings, winning four World Cup Medals and a Silver at World Championships.  Together, Rohbock and Fleming have won the most medals ever on the World Cup circuit for a US pair, male or female.

Following her competitive career, Fleming served on the U.S. Bobsled & Skeleton Federation Board of Directors as an athlete representative from 2006-2010. She was  member of the Women’s Bobsled Jury at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games. Fleming is currently on the Bobsleigh Sports Committee for the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF).
